Trade agreements and their impacts

A working paper on RCEP, CPTPP and the impact on East Asia brought out by the Peterson Institute makes interesting reading.

Titled "East Asia Decouples from theUnited States: Trade War, COVID-19,and East Asia’s New Trade Blocs", it compares the RCEP and CPTPP agreements with abundant data, the relative gainers and losers on joining or staying out of these blocs and what is in store for East Asia from the two agreements. The comparison of provisions of RCEP and CPTPP are particularly useful - on electronic commerce, labour and investment.

A good overall perspective, both geopolitical and economic on trade agreements and lessons for entering them or staying out!
